About TSAGW

The Tourette Syndrome Association of Greater Washington (TSAGW) is a non-profit organization comprised of an all volunteer Board of Directors, two paid Staff and numerous unaffiliated volunteers. Our mission is to improve the quality of life in those affected by Tourette Syndrome through education, advocacy and awareness in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.

TSAGW is a chapter of the national Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA) headquartered in Bayside, NY and founded in 1972. Our membership includes individuals, families, relatives, and medical and allied professionals working in the field.

Among other things, we provide the following:
  • Parent training and support
  • Organize educator and medical conferences and events
  • Support in-service efforts (classroom presentations by parents or TSAGW representatives)
  • Sponsor and promote support group meetings
  • Organize family events for those affected by TS
  • Media relations and awareness campaigns
  • Support line available for questions and crisis discussions
  • Provide a website for local and national information regarding TS
  • Disseminate information to members, educators, physicians and allied professionals
  • Cooperate with associated organizations whose objectives are common with us
  • Lobby local Senators and Representatives for support of TS issues and appropriations requests
TSAGW relies on the generous contributions of its clients, supporters, foundations and government grant monies to fund its operations.
