Family Retreat Announces Special Guests

TAAGW is thrilled to welcome two special guests, well-known comedian Louis Centanni and Drum Echoesat Tic Tic Tok, our new weekend-long family retreat for kids and adults with Tourette's, which is scheduled for September 25-27, 2015.

Louis Centanni is is not only a wonderful comedian, but also a great actor, known for To Kill a Bore (2006), Party Smashers (2011) and Silver Linings Playbook (2012). He was born on September 11, 1985 in Woodbury, New Jersey, and diagnosed at age 7 with Tourette's. He was given the nickname "Twitchels" by Nicole Ritchie during the filming of The Simple Life.

Drum Echoes will provide inspirational workshops for our attendees. These workshops seek to educate audiences about the importance of understanding and accepting differences in abilities. Matt discusses his experiences growing up with severe Tourettes, complimenting his talk with a drum circle or demonstration and question/answer session.

Over the years, Matt has won recognition for his skills through competitions and awards. Matt established Drum Echoes, Inc. to share his passion for percussion. He and Drum Echoes have been featured by several well-known media, including the BBC, PBS Nova, ABC Primetime and The New York Times; in the bestselling book "Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain" by Dr. Oliver Sacks; and by numerous state and local news and press outlets.

 

Diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at a young age, Matt has a unique understanding of people with various abilities. Through his two passions, working with people and drumming, he inspires others to wake up to the rhythm of life. Learn more about Matt.
